Speed World Records  

Brian Jay walked through a gate and latched it 12 times in 30 seconds a new world record. He passed throught the gate 13 times, but failed to make a complete latch once. Jay set the record on June 28, 2009 in Arlington Heights, Illinois. Justin Kay was present as a witness.

Taylor Jones named 35 Black Eyed Peas songs in 20 seconds, a new world record. Songs named included ‘Don’t Bring Me Down’, ‘Let’s Get It Started’, and ‘Pump It Up’. Jones set the record on June 27, 2009 in Miami, Florida. Ricky Jones was present as a witness.

Lane George sent a text message using a first generation iPhone in 2.5 seconds, a new world record. George set the record on June 27, 2009 in Woodstock, Georgia. Kristin Grecco was present as a witness.

Sean Welsh completed 131 finger-ups while wearing a 30 gram finger weight in 30 seconds, a new world record. Welsh wore the 30 gram weight between the first and middle knuckle on his right index finger. The record was set on June 18, 2009 in Newburyport, Massachusetts. Monica Welsh was present as a witness.

Marc and Lucas crossed Honduras by motorcycle in 4 hours and 55 minutes. They began in El Amatillo at the El Salvador border, and exited to Nicaragua through the town of at El Espino. The clock stopped when they reached the border. See their route here. Marc and Lucas set the record on November 8, 2008. Marc rode a BMW 1150GS[] and Lucas was on a KTM 990.

Kennedy told 16 "Yo Mama" jokes in a geeky voice in one minute, a new world record. The record was set on June, 11 2009 during a taping of the Karson and Kennedy Morning Show on Mix 98.5 in Boston, Massachusetts. Co-host Karson was present as a witness.

Opus Moreschi made a ShamWow cocktail in 28.52 seconds, a new world record. He poured all the liquid ingredients of a Manhattan into a ShamWow, and then squeezed the towel into a glass. Timing stopped when the final ingredient, a maraschino cherry, was placed in the drink. Moreschi termed the resulting cocktail a “Shamhattan.” Moreschi set the record on May 20, 2009 at a World Record Appreciation Society[] event in New York City. Dan LaCroix completed 230 high steps in one minute, a new world record. Each high-step was defined as quot;the raising of a leg to hit one’s palm at waist level.quot; LaCroix completed the feat on May 17, 2009 in Fairfax, Virginia. Noah Zimmerman was present as a witness.

Lucy Smith and Sophia Lipkin ink stamp the entire English alphabet in one minute and 56.32 seconds, a new world record. The letters were stamped in alphabetical order. The girls performed the feat on April 4, 2009 at the first annual Brooklyn World Record Day in Brooklyn, New York. The event was held by URDB in conjunction with Beam Camp. Jerry Paffendorf climbed the stairs of Michigan Central Station from ground level to rooftop in an unprecedented 9 minutes, 59 seconds. He set the record on April 29, 2009 in Detroit, Michigan.

Jake Bronstein completes five “Hey”/“Ho” call and responses with an audience in 2.96 seconds, a new world record. This was one of four feats he pulled off en route to setting the mark for Most World Records Set In One Minute[]. Bronstein set the record on March 25, 2009 at a World Record Appreciation Society[] event held at Pianos in New York City. Dan Rollman and Corey Henderson were present as witnesses. [#WRAS05][]

Matt Piper, Gareth Jones, and Lloyd Jones set off from London (England) and drove to Cardiff (Wales), Dublin (Ireland), Belfast (Northern Ireland) and finally Edinburgh (Scotland) in 23 hours and 10 minutes, a new world record. This feat was achieved on April 3, 2009. Piper, Jones, and Jones took the drive as a fundraiser for the British Red Cross on behalf of their organization, Wendy’s Appeal. Eric Iverson unzips his jacket pocket, pulls out his Blackberry smartphone and returns it to pocket in 01.62 seconds, a new world record. The record was set on January 31, 2009 at Iverson’s home in Munising, Michigan. William Biver was present to time and witness the record.

Displaying incredible ineptitude at sensing people’s auras, Justin Gignac[] incorrectly guessed 32 people’s Zodiac signs in one minute, a new world record. Gignac achieved the feat on February 11, 2009 at a World Record Appreciation Society[] event in New York City. Corey Henderson was present to document and count the incorrect sign guesses. Todd Lamb won back the title in a category he originally created by looking at 60 images of fish sandwiches in one minute, a new world record. His performace broke the previous record of 57 held by 91X Morning Show[] radio DJ Carlos Montoya. Lamb was aided by his assistant Marcus Livesay, who prepared by donning surgical gloves and chugging a Jolt. The feat was achieved at a World Record Appreciation Society event on February 11, 2009 in New York City. Corey Henderson was on hand to document and count the images. #WRAS03, #RecordSetterBook01

Paying homage to her favorite musical,Rachel Sklar sang ’Sixteen Going On Seventeen[]’ (featured in The Sound of Music) in 38.58 seconds. The record was set at a World Record Appreciation Society event on February 11, 2009. It took place at Pianos, a bar in New York City’s Lower East Side.
