    The press of course is that small wooden object that clamps over the racket once tennis game was completed. They were used "back in the old days" on wooden rackets so that the good wood would not warp. (try saying that really fast). Naturally no one ever played with them attached.

    Some folks didn't think they were all that helpful but most did use them. Glad the modern rackets came on the scene.
