Pencil World Records

Emily Wilson[] sharpened five completely unsharpened pencils in one minute, a new world record. To confirm that the pencils were sufficiently sharp, Wilson successfully popped balloons with each one when the minute was complete. The feat was achieved on November 24, 2008 at the World Record Appreciation Society’s first-ever event. It took place at Asia Roma[], a karaoke bar in New York City. Event organizers Corey Henderson and Dan Rollman were on hand to witness and document the achievement.

Cramer Ruth snapped 10 pencils with his hands in 6.65 seconds.

Jonathan R. broke 62 pencils with his forehead in one minute.

Dinesh Shivnath Upadhyaya held 301 pencils in his hand at once.

Frank DiFiore broke 30 pencils with his forehead in 30 seconds, a new world record. The pencils were broken one at a time.

Raja Thapa placed 138 pencils in his mouth at once.

Brian Pankey rotated his fingers around a pencil84 times in 30 seconds.

Ethan H. threw 34 pencils at a camera in 15 seconds.

Brian Pankey threw 15 pencils at a camera in 15 seconds while standing on a rola bola.

Brian Pankey threw 10 pencils at a camera in 15 seconds while juggling two tennis balls and standing on a rola bola.

This record was set as part of Prius Records, a two-day event streamed live on the Internet. In a 48-hour period, URDB officials adjudicated 200 Prius-related world records. This was the most records ever documented in a 48-hour window, a world record in and of itself. The event took place in Los Angeles, California on March 30th and 31st, 2011. At the end of 100 days, we’ll verify if you are the standing Record Holder. If you are, you’ll get $500 for each record you managed to hold with your guile, talent, and sheer will. Anthony D. put 95 pencils and 5 bottle caps into a pencil box.

Ashok Nagpure created a pencil drawing about the biography of Indian film pioneer Dadasaheb Phalke. The drawing measures 8 feet in height and 324 feet in length. It took him 7.2 months to complete the whole drawing and it is currently displayed in Nashik, India.
