Break Cancer World Records

Katie Preston Toepfer wore 110 bandanas on her body at once. The record, set to raise cancer awareness, was set using CanTeen bandanas.

78 cancer survivors and their caregivers hula hooped at the same time during a Defeat Cancer meeting in Bend, Oregon.

The Nurse Oncology Education Program nurses at Dallas, Texas gave each other a total of 232 high-fives in recognition of quality cancer care as part of the Break Cancer initiative.

Emily Peterson and 32 of her friends each crushed an aluminum can for cancer.

23 people gathered on November 15, 2010 to discuss adolescent and young adult cancer patients and families in and around Portland, Oregon. At the end of the meeting everyone said“Rompe el cancer” at once. The gathering was hosted by the OHSU Knight Cancer Institute Adolescent[] and Young Adult Oncology Program and the External Advisory Committee. The 23rd person to participate in this world record was the cameraman.

Seven people finished the 2010 San Antonio Rock & Roll Full & Half-Marathon[] said “Break cancer!” after their completion of the race.

Texas 4000, a group of University of Texas students preparing to cycle 4,000 miles to raise money to battle cancer, rode a trainer bike 31.50 miles in one hour, a new world record. UCLA Healthy Lives After Cancer, led by Chrystel Murrieta, set a record by getting 49 young adults to say an inspirational message on video to other young adults facing cancer. The video includes a stuffed animal saying an encouraging message, who wasn’t included in the final count.
