Austrian pianist Ulli Wigger fired off 1,204 single-note keystrokes in 60 seconds on June 15, 2025, earning the RecordSetter title for Most Single-Note Piano Keystrokes in One Minute (Female). The run—captured on an unmodified Yamaha N3X hybrid piano with 56 g hammer action—was counted by a custom MIDI plug-in that filters duplicates within 25 ms, ensuring every strike is a bona-fide note. Witness statements, notarization and raw-vs-filtered MIDI files back up the blistering 20.07 notes-per-second pace.

Think you can top it? Grab a weighted, MIDI-capable piano, follow the rules below and submit your uncut video to beat the mark of 1,204 notes.

Rules

- Attempt must be performed on a MIDI-capable acoustic, hybrid, or digital piano with non-adjustable hammer weighting.

- Minimum down-weight is 56 g. Before the attempt, performer must demonstrate key weight using a calibrated scale and include this in the video.

– Keystrokes are tallied via a MIDI plug-in that applies a 25-millisecond duplicate filter. A second, unfiltered count must be recorded for comparison. Both raw and filtered MIDI data files must be submitted.

– Clock starts automatically on the first keystroke and stops exactly 60 seconds later. Any notes struck after 60 seconds are not counted.

– Each strike must be a distinct note. Simultaneous chord hits, ghost notes, or mechanically repeated actions count as one under the 25 ms filter. No external devices, auto-repeat functions, or prepared mechanisms may assist the hands.

– A single, uncut video must show: full view of performer, keyboard, and hands throughout; key-weight verification; computer screen (or split-screen capture) displaying the plug-in settings and live count; immediate on-camera read-out of the final totals.

– Either a notarized statement or two independent adult witnesses must attest to the accuracy of the timing and count. Signed documents with contact information must accompany the submission.

– Submit: raw & filtered MIDI files, plug-in binary or source (or checksum), and a still photo of the key-weight test.

- To claim a new title, the final filtered total must exceed the standing record by at least one (1) keystroke.

– All other standard RecordSetter rules apply, including adherence to good sportsmanship and truthful representation of results.

Watching Ulli keep that blistering 20+ notes-per-second pace for a full minute feels less like a recital and more like a precision rhythm challenge, where stamina and timing matter as much as musicality. The detailed rules, from hammer weight checks to filtered MIDI data, make this run feel as carefully engineered as a speed-oriented MineFun Online Puzzle session, where every small input is tracked and any sloppy move instantly ruins your streak. What really stands out is how this turns a simple single-note pattern into something almost meditative and athletic at the same time, pushing the line between music performance and pure mechanical mastery.
