Thomas McGinniss had eight imaginary telephone conversations using the following non-telephones: a pen, a CD, a book, his foot, a t-shirt, scissors, glasses, and a Mountain Dew Voltage bottle.

- only one non-telephone can be used per imaginary telephone conversation
- each non-telephone item may only be used once
- each non-telephone must be held to the record setter's ear and mouth in a similar fashion to how one holds a telephone
- each imaginary telephone conversation must include the record setter lifting the non-telephone and conversing with imaginary party on the other end of the non-telephone line
