does it also possible in 2 hands as the same record on the same title ?

  • France The French One

Emily: actually, I used to practice typing a lot on a website called ZoneDactylo. One of the contest was to type the first 200 digits of Pi as fast as possible. By typing them over and over, I realized two months later that I knew them by heart. I’m the bloke who solved Rubik’s Cubes while recitating Pi, don’t you remember me? :( Matt: I did only one try, precisely to motivate you.

  • The Internet Matt Kempster

Wow, that's awesome. I guess I'll beat this one within the week. Whoever subs 10 first is pretty impressive. Thanks for giving me motivation, The French One! Can't wait to beat you, hehehe

I honestly never thought this record would be broken. French, what motivated you to memorize all those digits?

  • France The French One

Oh and btw, my sight is way too bad to enable me to see further than 30 cm before my eyes, let alone for the screen!

Cyril, closing the eyes is too random a way not to see. You can’t help blinking and all. I assure you that 1) I’m forced to close the eyes if I don’t want wool to get in them and 2) even if I could open the eyes, I wouldn’t be able to see anything.

Cyril, the skepticism is appreciated, but I feel confident that he can't see anything. Upvote this if you agree.

The French One, very impressive but it is better if you actually showed us that your eyes are closed rather than covering it up..

Not bad for a beginner! I just did 12.5 on my first try, for fun. Maybe I’ll do it for real this week-end. Anyway, you should give this a look: http://www.zonedactylo.com/?page=contest_pi. The WR for 200 digits (with eyes opened) is about 11.2 seconds, mine is about 22 seconds.

Yes, and it originally was, but I have no idea what happened to the title when it got accepted to the site.

Shouldn't this be "with eyes closed"?

I believe I had a story on the actual submission somewhere, but somehow that got deleted. Essentially, I know the first 100 so well I could recite them in my sleep. I used that pi trainer site a LOT 6-7 years ago (when I was in elementary school), and since I was so young, the key combination is forever ingrained in my mind.

Last year I knew about 400 digits of pi, but since then it's dropped to about 200. By pi day this year I hope to know about a thousand. And I'm able to beat that record quite easily, but I have to be whispering - I'm not too good at not stumbling over the digits when going so fast. So yeah, I'll just try to beat as many (and set, I suppose) as I can!

Impressive. How did you practice for this Matt? How many digist of pi can you remember? Maybe you can aspire to this record.

Many pie records to be set.

This is really, really awesome. Great camera work as well. Kudos!
