YAA World Records  

Twitter users around the world sent a total of 224 tweets to Bena Roberts in a 24-hour period, wishing her good thoughts in her battle against cancer. Roberts, who is fighting breast cancer, had no idea the tweets were coming. The record was kicked off during a speech by URDB president Dan Rollman at the 2011 Next Conference in Berlin, Germany. On November 24, 2010, Lorna Larsen, president of Team Shan, presented to 450 students at the University of Western Ontario. Following the lecture, she inspired the entire room to say, “Team Shan Breast Cancer Awareness for Young Women” at the same time.

Billy Disney turned a lamp on and off 30 times using his "taint" in 30 seconds, a new world record. Disney set the record during URDB’s BreakCancer party at the SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas. Mairi W. said, “Cancer sucks” 25 times in 15 seconds.

Members of the Nurse Oncology Education Program Steering Committee stomped on the word “Cancer.” In total, 240 toes stepped on the word.

Radio Shack donated 100 video cameras to the Livestrong Young Adult Alliance to raise awareness for young adult cancer.

UCLA Healthy Lives After Cancer, led by Chrystel Murrieta, set a record by getting 49 young adults to say an inspirational message on video to other young adults facing cancer. The video includes a stuffed animal saying an encouraging message, who wasn’t included in the final count.

The NMDP Office of Patient Advocacy set a world record for the shortest race to break cancer, measuring six feet (72 inches).

Jack Butler made a joke about his cancer-related amputation 11 days after he’d had his surgery.
