I have one that is as small as a dime! Beat that!

I would except Smallest Full-Sized Strawberry. There was no green left on the berry and it had remained this size for a solid week on the bush. I did have a photo of the strawberry next to a ruler, but up close it was too blurry to tell the actual size. 5mm seemed the closest measurement I could make, if I was wrong then I do apologize. The penny was just used as a comparison, not to determine actual size...also the angle of the shot makes the penny look slightly bigger. Thank you all for your comments! :)

I thought ripe was a fairly quantifiable state, meaning the fruit was no longer green. Just my $.02!

i changed to 5 mm (1/2 cm), which seems about right. Of greater concern, how does one define "ripe"? Can we tweak to Smallest Full-Sized Strawberry?

  • United States Jennifer Wark

That can't be right; a U.S. penny is hardly five centimeters!

  • Philippines MaAnn P.

how can we be sure this was 5 cm? there wasn't any ruler or tape measure in the photo
