Is the record setter allowed to consult any written material? Not necessarily the words used, but the letters for the device?

A mnemonic is ment to help you remember something and, if you need something to help you remember the mnemonic than that kinda defeats the purpose. So, I would vote NO written material but, I don't know how the record was originally set.
