i thought brain was 100 percent deaf

haha, I was thinking the same thing. He's either listening to a beat because he's becoming a professional Rubik's cube bouncer and getting serious about the title or he's listening to motivation to keep at it or he's listening to music because he's SO bored bouncing... although you don't think too much about how long it is until you upload it and think about the poor moderators...

Awesome, that guy can really rap!

  • United States Brian Pankey

Hello Rob I was listening to Recovery album by Eminem

  • United States Rob Birdsong

Brian, what are you listening to?

  • United States Rob Birdsong

We counted it Bryan, I don't have the exact number in front of me at the moment but I know it is over 4000.

We promise to get to it soon.

I agree anything over 10 minutes or 1,000 bounces or more bounces should be a longest time record. I did the alternate paddle with a table tennis ball & changed it to the longest time.I told Rob that was to many bounces to keep track of. It is still on drop.io/urdbmedia & waiting to be verified.

  • Australia Peter Craig

I think that brings back the argument of making it a timed record "longest time to bounce a table tennis ball on a rubik's cube" but in terms of bounces you did a whole 500 bounces more in almost the same time... it does change the record... but the more you do it the better you get and techniques you find work best you could do it for an hour, and sorry but I'm not going to and don't expect urdb to count 10,000 tick, tock, tick tack, tick, tick, tock, bouncing...

  • United States Brian Pankey

Thanks Peter! I didn't realize I did that many. I was counting this by time more than actually bounces figuring you did 1043 in around 8 minutes. Thats about 130 bounces a minute. I went for 9 minutes so I figured I would do around 1200 - 1300 bounces. It's weird because I did this a day before this record & counted 1200 in 7 minutes but didn't want to submit because I thought I overcounted.

I know it was 684...that was what I said when I submitted it. In fact, the title of the video file is rubiks684.mov. :) I think they simply made a typo when they typed this into the database. I'd never try to cheat, especially for something that, in the grand scheme of things, doesn't matter. :)

Yeah I got a long list of shows I am doing this whole weekend. So I will be on the road. Maybe I'll bring my flip camcorder with me to record on the road. I would like to break a record in every state. I am going to let Dan know that! If I had the money I would deffinitely do it!

  • United States Brian Pankey

You never have to apologize to me for breaking one of my records. That's what urdb is all about. I would like to post a bloopers reel but I swear like a drunken sailor! It would be unappropiate for youtube

  • Australia Peter Craig

Did you at least see the first bit of the clip, I tried to have a bit more fun with it this time and show what really happens when breaking the record :) And I don't mean to come across arrogant, just having some fun with you both!

  • Australia Peter Craig

I've just submitted a new record which was challenging: Most Consecutive Table Tennis Ball Bounces Using A Rubik's Cube While Alternating Hands - give it a go, it's much harder because when you switch hands it moves the blocks around. You can use any side although I used one, one hand at a time otherwise same rules. Maybe do it like the other records and submit your record blindly, so I won't let you know what the current benchmark is.

  • United States Brian Pankey

That's alright Peter. I am happy that you broke it. It will give me more of a challenge. I need to get a new Rubik's cube first because the ones that I have are to loose & that dramatically effects how the ball bounces on it.

  • Australia Peter Craig

Don't worry... I've already submitted my attempt, just waiting for verification. I've counted it twice and you're not going to be happy, sorry Brian. 1,043: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xKwcOynuamQ

  • United States Brian Pankey

Thank you Peter. It was strange because I went longer in time than he did but ended up with a shorter count than him. I look forward to Mick's response on this.

  • Australia Peter Craig

This record needs to be re-verified - Brian Pankey's attempt of 755 actually beats this current record of 785 because I've counted and this one only actually has 657 bounces! So Brian Pankey's latest attempt of 755 should be the current record, and Mick Cullen's 785 needs to be corrected to be 657 and changed to broken. I'm not sure how an extra 130 bounces could have been mis-counted?

  • United States Brian Pankey

I must of sparked a fire that won't stop burning! Great job Mick! I won't have any hair left cause I keep pulling it out! aaaaaahhhhhh! Just kidding man I'm cool I am busy this week so I'll try to break some of the records on sunday or monday!

  • United States Brian Pankey

Great Job Mick! Let's keep it going for awhile maybe we can both get to 500 by the end of the month

  • United States Mick Cullen

Brian....you seem so forlorn in this video? Where's that Ashrita Furman-trouncing spirit!? :)

  • United States Mick Cullen

    Your move, Brian.

  • United States Mick Cullen

Well done! I'll work on it...
