Cyril - Thanks for picking this up. We will review the film and perhaps have the team resubmit if there is a doubt about their achievement. In the original criteria (which were shortened by RecordSetter reviewers), we said the definer could not look at other materials while speaking, but could reference a list in between definitions.
Congratulations to Richard Eshbach and his team: Chris Doucette, Saurabh Rohatgi, and Kush Shaqiri on shattering the original record set by Caroline's team!
Congratulations on your stunning achievement!
Per the comments below, one hand is implied because it refers to a single pen, and a single thumb. A separate record for over-the-thumbs pen spins using two pens can be made.
I didn't realize my record had been broken--don't think I received a notice. Congrats to the new winner. Looks like I'm going to have to set a new one while riding a unicycle. An earlier question was about whether this needed to be one-handed. That was my intent (I thought about trying to set a different one with two hands). Do I need to do anything as the original record setter to add that criteria?
Great question. The way we figured out the longest distance was we picked the frame of the video at the moment the bubble seemed longest and looked at the yardstick. Not very precise, but maybe we could also upload a still of that frame with the video.
