Pushing the limits of both blood circulation and neck strength, Opus
Moreschi tied a whopping 97 neckties around his neck at once, a new
universal record. The ties, which featured everything from cartoon
characters to corporate logos, weighed a combined total of 7.4 pounds.
Moreschi’s daring feat was performed on February 11, 2009 at a World
Record Appreciation Society event at Pianos, a New York City bar.
His face turned slightly purple as he set the record, forcing witnesses
Corey Henderson and Kate Sullivan to periodically check his pulse.

This record was set as part of Toyota Prius Records, a two-day event
streamed live on the Internet. In a 48-hour period, URDB officials
adjudicated 200 Prius-related world records. This was the most records
ever documented in a 48-hour window, a world record in and of itself.
The event took place in Los Angeles, California on March 30th and 31st,
2011. See all the records set at the event here.
