Info
This attempt was two-fold. Firstly Harry Houdini himself was challenged to escape from York but due to his limited time during his European tours and, ultimately his untimely death on the 31st of October 1926, meant that the challenge to escape from the cell, which is believed to have been the same cell that the legendary Highway Man ‘Dick Turpin’ spent his final hours before his execution, was never answered by Houdini himself. That challenge was eventually answered by British Escapologist and Houdini Historian, David DeVal, who not only escaped the cell but also recreated the methods used by Houdini, rather than attempt to apply his own methodology. This is in itself a great accomplishment as Houdini’s notes were redacted when it came to Cell Escapes. This challenge was attempted by Weasel Dandaw, who was challenged to not only escape the cell having been examined by a paramedic and the cell inspected by the public but also to copy the Houdini / DeVal method as a historical recreation. This escape was stunning to witness live
