Per the comments below, one hand is implied because it refers to a single pen, and a single thumb. A separate record for over-the-thumbs pen spins using two pens can be made.
Ross -- since you're attempting a new record, you have the freedom to define the criteria/rules. In the spirit of consistency, I'd try to build your criteria around existing pen spinning feats. Two different categories are more than welcome, and a unicycle in the midst of it all? Sounds awesome!
I didn't realize my record had been broken--don't think I received a notice. Congrats to the new winner. Looks like I'm going to have to set a new one while riding a unicycle. An earlier question was about whether this needed to be one-handed. That was my intent (I thought about trying to set a different one with two hands). Do I need to do anything as the original record setter to add that criteria?
Yeah I was wondering if a thumbaround harmonic would count as 2. The only stipulation is that it "freely rotates 360 degrees" and "return[s] to its starting position." Technically a harmonic meets both of these conditions i'm thinking.
I wish there were more records dealing with pen spinning.
Maybe we split this category into one-handed and two-handed. I do think the original record was done with one hand, maybe we should add it to the criteria.
I figure it won't be long before this record gets smashed by a grad student somewhere in another time zone. Then I'll just have to do it on a unicycle...

Ross could re-upload the video and update the criteria to say you can only use one hand. I'd be happy to compete for it.
Brian Pankey
the criteria should have said only can use one hand

I must not have seen this, looks like I'll need to practice and try again.
