Info

I started competing in amateur strongman competitions in 2017, under the coaching of Max McCall a Perth-based coach who has coached 2 other world record holders in the "Axle clean and Press".

The idea to break the 300 lbs 'neck extension' world record set by Mike Bruce (USA, 2007) was part of a "Movember 2019" fundraiser to promote mental health awareness for men. My philosophy is rather simple and comes from karate (Okwinan Go Jo Ryu) -- people can develop mental strength and resilience by making their bodies strong. This is something I realised during my black belt grading with Sensei Tino Rossi and Peter Oberaki in 2004 -- success is often one rep or one minute away. You just need to keep going.
