About

Karl Sortland rides a sandboard down a big red sand dune near Kanab, Utah, launches off a sand kicker on the slope and reaches down to grab the nose of his board in midair. Sandboarding is snowboarding's desert cousin, and a nose grab means holding the front tip of the board while airborne. RecordSetter timed the jump frame by frame from the moment the board left the lip to the moment it touched back down, for 0.4 seconds of airtime. He rides out the landing before sliding to a stop in the soft sand.
