Most People Towing Mini Hydroplanes At Once
Seafair is Seattle’s traditional summer festival lasting all summer long. The festival spans over the course of 8 weeks, includes 75 events and reaches nearly 2 million people. There is a long standing tradition in Seattle to tow homemade mini hydro boats behind bikes, and families and friends can often be seen towing their mini hydroplane boats on a sunny Seattle afternoon. The tradition comes from Seattle’s long-standing love for the sport of unlimited hydroplane racing. Every year at Seafair Weekend, the Albert Lee Appliance Seafair Cup provides the most spectacular experience for hydroplane enthusiasts, and huge crowds line the shores of Lake Washington to get a glimpse of the “World’s Fastest Race Boats.” Seattle’s excitement for hydroplane racing is evident by the large community participation in setting a new world record.
