We think only a record holder can know what you go through to set a record, so we only let people that
have already set world records downvote other people's records.
What can I do?
Go set a record! If you can think of it, you can set a new world record for it.
Adam, your observation is correct there is "debris" in our staple ball. This "debris" is part of what makes our staple ball so unique. The stapler was first invented in the 18th Century for King Louis XV, but George McGill received the patent for the modern stapler in 1867. Our business deals with the preservation of county records and our staple ball has in it staples that date back to the mid 1800's when Texas originally became a state. This means we have some of the first staples ever used. We considered burning out the "debris" but feared that it may compromise our "antique" staples. So the small amount of what you call "debris, we call "history"!
There's other debris in there. It's not considered a Used staple collection unless there are only staples, which does not include "Bits" of staples. therefore you don't have the record. Has to be only Used staples.
Emily, we started our collection in 2006, and actually didn't know there was a record until a few years ago, but didn't want to submit it until it was a decent size.
