Letter World Records

Laura All spelled 43 words using the letters in ‘SAUCONY ORIGINALS’ in one minute, a world record. One-letter words weren’t accepted, but two-letter words were OK. She wasn’t allowed to read words from a computer-generated list. All achieved the feat on July 19, 2009 at the Pitchfork Music Festival[] in Chicago, Illinois. Karan T. recited the alphabet backwards in 2.17 seconds.

In homage to his love of food, Colin Nissan sets a new universal record by opening a can of Campbell’s Alphabet Soup and spelling out ‘PANTYHOSE’ in one minute, 25.77 seconds. Nissan set the record on January 7, 2009 at a World Record Appreciation Society event in New York City. He opened a standard size (10.5 ounces) pop top lid can, strained the letters, and then spelled out ‘PANTYHOSE’ using letters from the soup. Doron T. posted 40 consecutive tweets using every letter of the English alphabet.

Jonathan S. spelled Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious in 3.18 seconds.

Maddi Stadtmueller and her friends created 25 backronyms in one minute.

Adam Pollock spelled out “I (Heart) PICKLED HERRING” with pickled herring and ate it in three minutes, 33.81 seconds. Timing began when he started spelling, and stopped when he’d finished eating. Herring for the record was donated by Russ amp; Daughters. Pollock achieved the feat on August 12, 2009 at a World Record Appreciation[] society event in New York City. Wes Turner made an “S” using sticky notes on someone else’s body in 12.56 seconds. Stride’s setting 100 records in 100 days. At the end of 100 days, we’ll verify if you are the standing Record Holder. If you are, you’ll get $500 for each record you managed to hold with your guile, talent, and sheer will. General caution and common sense required. We show the Stride Team at work, but recommend that these challenges be done at home.

Lucy Smith and Sophia Lipkin ink stamp the entire English alphabet in one minute and 56.32 seconds, a new world record. The letters were stamped in alphabetical order. The girls performed the feat on April 4, 2009 at the first annual Brooklyn World Record Day in Brooklyn, New York. The event was held by URDB in conjunction with Beam Camp. Josh Morden spelled “THE RECORD COLLECTION” in one minute, 55.80 seconds using Alpha-Bits cereal.

Jeff Taylor sang a love letter that Alexander Hamilton wrote to Elizabeth Schuyler in three minutes, 43.10 seconds.

Rowan C. recited 106 four-letter words in one minute.

Jaana A. and other fans from 30 countries around the world wrote a fan letter to Jedward measuring 400 meters in length.

Tai Star scored 96 points from placing a letter "X" in a game of Scrabble.

Kayla Scohy and her two best friends, Savanna and Joanne, wrote a fan letter to Madam Adam that was 445 feet (5,340 inches) long. It took them four months to finish the entire letter.
