In honor of National Poetry Month,
I will endeavor to create:
The longest
Maybe strongest!
Rhyme
In seven hours time
From the titles of
Books below and above
And also CDs
As well as DVDs,
All to be found
In a Circ look-around!
What will you find
When you look at the shelves?
Priceless free treasures!
So come help yourselves!
Do you crave
Exciting fiction?
There are many stories
To feed your addiction!
Novels tell secrets
Like Sarah’s Key
And Irish stories
By sweet Maeve Binchy.
And Cujo and Carrie
--Those are Stephen King’s—
And J.R.R. Tolkein’s
Lord of the Rings.
Or do you like mysteries
Such as Harry Potter?
Or “A” Is for Alibi?
Or the Headhunter’s Daughter?
There’s some who crave Sci Fi
And want close at hand
Darwin’s Children and
Stranger in a Strange Land.
And then there’s Biographies,
Love, Lucy, John Glenn, Chagall;
For Warren Buffet followers,
Check out The Snowball.
In Nonfiction, there’s choices
For everyone who
Loves History, Travel,
Cooking and How-To.
In Reference
There’s also The O.E.D.
And Atlas of the World—
Plenty for you and for me!
Don’t forget serials
Like People and Us
To keep up with celebs
And all of their fuss!
For extra entertainment,
We’ve movies galore,
From Adam’s Rib to Zoolander:
Drama, comedy and more!
Likewise, there’s CDs
If you want to rock
With M!ssundaztood
Or P.D.Q. Bach!
To paraphrase Kilmer, rhymes are made
By fools like me
But visit your library
For more poetry!
