James Neal scuba dived in cold water 64.2 meters deep. Neal suffered a subarachnoid hemorrage following the rupture and bleed of an undiagnosed aneurysm in December of 2013. He recovered and was certified Fit to Dive at the end of July 2014. The record attempt was made 10 months after returning to diving in June 2015.
