Walking World Records

Satpal K. walked on his hands for two minutes, 49.34 seconds.

Matt P. completed 258 laps around a table tennis table while bouncing a table tennis ball on his paddle.

Art Hoffman completed a 1/4 mile racewalk with his dog Chenji in two minutes, 17.08 seconds. Chenji is a Swahilian name.

Ted van den Beemt took 117 steps on his knees in 30 seconds.

Bryan Ellison walked along a pipe for 67 feet without touching the ground.

Mariappan Palanichamy lifted a 40 kilogram weight using just his mouth and walked 50 meters.

Michaele P. walked 819.52 feet with a spoon balanced on his nose.

A total of 448 people participated in a photowalk. The event was organized by 500px Global Photo Walk and NOTYi Photographers. The group walked around streets of Chandigarh in India, taking photographs throughout.

Holding a plastic soda cap with his pinky and index fingers, Brian Pankey[] completed a 6’ finger walk in 7.72 seconds. The feat ended when the cap was dropped in a shot glass.

Pekka Luodeslampi walked a total of 1,560,554 steps in 31 days. He began on April 19, 2010 and finished May 19, 2010 averaging over 50,000 steps per day. He used the Nintendo Personal Trainer: Walking program to monitor his daily steps.

Rob Costa walked a yo-yo in an office for 9.07 seconds. Stride’s setting 100 records in 100 days. At the end of 100 days, we’ll verify if you are the standing Record Holder. If you are, you’ll get $500 for each record you managed to hold with your guile, talent, and sheer will. General caution and common sense required. We show the Stride Team at work, but recommend that these challenges be done at home.

This record was set as part of Toyota Prius Records, a two-day event streamed live on the Internet. In a 48-hour period, URDB officials adjudicated 200 Prius-related world records. This was the most records ever documented in a 48-hour window, a world record in and of itself. The event took place in Los Angeles, California on March 30th and 31st, 2011. Charles C. completed 51 laps around a table tennis table while bouncing a table tennis ball on alternating sides of a paddle.

Paddy Doyle walked 30 miles along the Grand Union Canal while carrying a 76-pound back pack in 10 hours and 37 seconds. Though his pack was 76 pounds and he walked an additional 300 meters, the weight and distance have been standardized. The record benefited the Help For Heroes charity. He was supported throughout by British Military Fitness instructors, martial arts boxing students from clubs around the Midlands and avid supporters. Read more about Doyle here.
