Nichelle Stephens and Rachel Kramer Bussel of Cupcakes Take The Cake[] and Nora Vetter of Nibbles by Nora assembled a cupcake kebab[] that measured 33.5 inches in length. Vetter, who invented the concept and baked the cupcakes they used, stipulated at least 1/3 of the kebab be made of cupcakes.

The women set the record on August 12, 2009 at a World Record Appreciation Society[] event in New York City. Dan Rollman and Corey Henderson were present as witnesses.

The cupcake was embellished with nine .75 ct. round diamonds, and finished with one 3 ct. round-cut diamond, donated by Jonathan Mervis. This value of this cupcake beat the previous record by $12,000.

The dessert was designed in Gaithersburg, Maryland on April 15, 2009. Alan Tarwater and Jonathan Mervis were present as witnesses.
