As the two most prestigious and recognized World Record organizations on the planet, there’s no question we’re head-to-head competitors. You're the largest UK-based organization, we're the largest US-based organization. You're an established brand, we're a Millennial start-up with 40,000 world record videos from 95 countries in our library. That said, we’d like to put differences aside, and suggest something rather unusual.

As you may be aware, September 21 is Peace Day, an annual day of global unity. (Thanks to Burger King's brilliant McWhopper campaign for reminding us.) The group behind it, Peace One Day, asks, “Who will you make peace with?” Well, if there’s anyone RecordSetter needs to make peace with, it’s Guinness World Records. (After all, we’ve had our disputes in the past.) So, we’d like to propose as follows:

Let’s meet in Las Vegas on Peace Day and co-host a massive World Record, designed to raise funds and awareness for Peace One Day. In the name of peace, let’s invite people to break the record for Largest Group Piggyback Hug, which currently stands at 32 pairs.

Our yellow blazer officials and your blue blazer officials will hug it out and adjudicate the record together. Double adjudication! For the sake of peace, we’ll call it a “GuinnessSetter World Record.” We’ll donate $1 to Peace One Day on behalf of every participant. We hope you’ll follow suit and match us.

Please let us know, as Peace Day is quickly approaching. Let’s put huggery before thuggery and make world history TOGETHER.

Peace and love,
