Clinton, Iowa, United States / September 27, 2011

Tim Elias and a friend completed 55 two-person over the head baseball catches in 30 seconds.

Stride’s setting 100 records in 100 days. At the end of 100 days, we’ll verify if you are the standing Record Holder. If you are, you’ll get $500 for each record you managed to hold with your guile, talent, and sheer will.

General caution and common sense required. We show the Stride Team at work, but recommend that these challenges be done at home.

- backs of participants' heads must touch for duration of attempt
- only clean catches permitted (may not use body or other external surfaces to assist)
- must use bare hands (no gloves permitted)
- no mirrors permitted
- if ball touches anything other than hands, entire attempt will be denied

Alyjha We accepted Benjamin Gross' sitting attempt. Nothing in the criteria says standing up is necessary.

  • The Internet Aurea Perez

lol Alyjha uhmm I doubt it but it doesn't say it in the rules so go for it and see what happens!

  • United States Alyjha Williams

so could you lay down and do this?

  • The Internet Aurea Perez

If you look closely at the slow motion portion of the video, the kid with the white shirt is actually catching the ball and throwing it back it. Also, if you look at Ben's and Tim's videos, the top of their heads are touching. Scroll down the comments and read Dan's comment "To avoid grey area issues regarding where the back of one's head ends and the top of one's head begins, we have decided to accept Tim Elias' submission." I think they deserve this.

this sure got changed. what happened to backs* of peoples head need to touch.. this is the top of the head

  • The Internet Tim Elias

im not sure the kid in the white is actually catching the ball or just bouncing it off his hands. just an observation

  • The Internet Thomas Perez

My brother and I will attempt to do this while sitting down. Is that allowed? Please respond asap! Thanks!

  • Canada Dan Rollman

To avoid grey area issues regarding where the back of one's head ends and the top of one's head begins, we have decided to accept Tim Elias' submission. We think this is the most fair solution across the board.

Note to future people who attempt this category: ball must be CAUGHT by both participants each time. Check Ryan Nielsen's failed attempt as an example of a catching style we will not accept.

it doesn't matter if he is taller...then you have to bend down...it doesn't say make an exception if your partner is taller

  • United States Alyjha Williams

well its because neil is taller thats my guess

  • The Internet Tim Elias

the top of the head of the kid in red is touching not the back. If mine was denied so should this. basically did the same thing yet ours is denied.

  • United States Alyjha Williams

    yeah dude no problem

  • United States Neil Moallem

Alyjha, great observation! The tops of their heads are touching, not the backs of their heads! This should definitely be denied based on the criteria not being met

Jordan -- nice catch. Christophe -- you're exactly right. If this attempt came in now, we'd deny it based on form.

  • United States Rob Birdsong

DENIED: We cannot count catches when the guy on the right is just creating a slide with his hands. Those cannot be considered for this category.

  • United States Christophe Flodstrom

They also caught the gum in a garbage can while someone was holding it. I'm under the impression they can be flexible with the rules, as they probably don't anticipate keeping the records.

  • United States Good Bye

    0:22 their heads come apart.
