We think only a record holder can know what you go through to set a record, so we only let people that
have already set world records downvote other people's records.
What can I do?
Go set a record! If you can think of it, you can set a new world record for it.
If you go onto the original source then you'll see it's, in fact, originally a picture of a girl's ribs and concave stomach. You can see it when you go to monsterscausedthisblackhole.tumblr.com and the post has been changed hundreds upon hundreds of times to other things such as the one shown in the photo.
I wouldn't call that "unfair." He posted a piece that the Tumblr editors felt worthy of sharing with the entire community. To beat the record, someone will need to create a post that possesses an equal (or even greater) level of buzz (attention from the Tumblr editors and/or popular members of the community.) It can be done!

And I also want to point out that if he donated for 12000 Notes, it would still have only been a donation of $48. And while $48 is a good bit for just a random blogger, I can't imagine how he managed to gather so many Notes or how he was able to predict that this was going to be so popular (hence setting a low amount). If it was me, I probably would've wrote "I'll donate $1 for every reblog" since I only have 6 followers, and then go bankrupt when this erupts all over Tumblr.
