1... its an old crappy rubber gym floor, thats why the pen was set on a caution wet floor sign... and if you guys knew anything, a folded caution wet floor sign is completely flat. So dont try and say it is on a slop. If it was on a slope it never would have stood up. 2.. Im the one with the basketball and I never dribble anywhere near the pen. plus, I would love to see anyone try to knock down a pen by dribbling a ball 10 feet away.

I'm not one to point fingers because I was beaten, but why DOES Devin have his pen on a sign slanted like that? Mine, and everyone elses pens stood up just fine.

Dan and Peter both provide excellent points. However, I still maintain that several other records that seemed too unrealistic to be true have been denied due to insufficient evidence. In a few cases, further evidence was provided and the records were consequently accepted. In this case, there are several factors that could have played a part, plus we can barely even see the pen. I therefor concur that further evidence of this record attempt should be requested. Zach Neal's attempt looks much more realistic than this one, albeit the fact that he never shows behind the pen. Benjamin Gross also has an attempt pending which I am interested in seeing. Maybe his attempt will provide us with some clarity

Also, on Zach Neal's attempt, he shows ALMOST everywhere in the room but not quite everywhere. He never shows behind the pen, where someone could have been standing to blow it down from above

I understand this category is difficult to get on camera because of all of the variables for potential cheating - but the spirit of RecordSetter has always been about trust, providing evidence without reason to cheat or manipulate results. With money involved, people get more protective of their own attempts. The evidence provided for each attempt raise concern/doubt BUT all in equal amounts and each person defending their own attempt as legit and pointing out issues with everyone else. Here are my observations which would potentially deny each attempt as Dan has said, which is completely against the spirit of the site, as we're not attacking character or persons.
Devin Ehrich: the pen is precariously placed on a sloping surface (why?) with two guys down at the end of the pen, having just bounced a basketball. If the pen was on a flat surface and the guys weren't there, and the open space was used better it would be pretty clear it's legit.
Zach Neal: looked pretty good, but the pen was already leaning when it started and fell the way it was leaning, but otherwise looks like a fairly decent attempt.
Joesph Hughes: furthest attempt had two camera angles, each not really showing evidence definitively, "spectators" or vents in the space may have played a role and considering it well over doubled Joseph's previous attempt with a handful of blows didn't even wiggle the pen - and his last attempt the camera guy sat near the pen and the pen fell away from the person sitting. To then double the previous attempt seemingly easier raises questions.
Dustin Sulek: A good attempt and again no reason to suspect malicious behavior.
In all, there's something to pick at each, but staying within the spirit of RecordSetter, the records stand unless there's collective moderation/decision/discussion from users who can come up with a concise and collective argument one way or another to possibly overthrow the RecordSetter moderators. The site is also about the community moderation process, and has never been about money and cheating. Without attacking or judging a person, feel free to openly discuss attempts with other observers so ideas can be tabled with the RecordSetter crew to consider.

Everyone First of all, the spirit of this dialogue is extremely disappointing. We are trying to create a new landscape for all types of human competition. We're looking to raise the bar of awesomeness for mankind. The accusations here are pathetic. If people are cheating, that's even worse.
This category is a slippery slope. If we were to deny Devin's submission, we'd be forced to deny every attempt in the category. For this reason, we will begrudgingly accept it. There is no clear evidence of cheating.

Without a second camera angle from behind the pen, there is no proof that no one was sitting underneath that purple mat that was to the right of the pen. Someone could EASILY have been sitting there blowing on it. I would like to see another video. After all, we submitted 2 videos for our attempt.

It is a very difficult category to adjudicate and so evidence is critical. I'd almost suggest putting a fine powder like flour around the pen so you can see where the wind is coming from. You'd almost even need witness accounts but then it gets complicated.

I gave both videos to Recordsetter, they can easily post a link to the 2nd video so you may watch our attempt. Joe and I are both star track athletes and have terrific lung capacities. this is funny. watch the 360 inch video. The pen sweeps right off the floor. If anything, from any distance of 15 feet or more the pen would wiggle (maybe) and barely tip over. Think you guys need to look into this record

And no one got a wiggle out of the "lightest" pen we could find. Now your telling me someone blows over a pen 5x the distance we couldn't. How bout a little hoensty people

I find it strange that the sounds of him blowing don't match up with when he actually looks like he starts and stops blowing. Oh well, guess we have to find a bigger room to break this one, the biggest stretch in my house was only 281 inches!

If you can see, he is blowing from an angle and not from straight behind the pen, which is why the dust bunny moves and the pen falls crooked. Look at how the tape measure curves and you will understand what I'm saying

As you can clearly see at 1:22 there is a dust bunny or paper moving to the left. It's funny how it doesn't blow away from the person who's blowing but it moves to the left like there's someone helping him.

Wes - the pen clearly hits the red part of the measuring tape as it falls down. If you look at 0:26, the red part is definitely behind the pen.

It's very difficult to validate by video evidence when there are so many variables - I'm not saying this is what has happened but are all valid work arounds to consider: the tape could have been budged slightly to knock the book the pen was standing on. The floor might have been bumped to dislodge the pen. The pen could be teetering on a bare edge to stand upright that it eventually falls regardless of being blown or not. A draft could be coming from any wall/roof/stairwell to contribute assistance. I think this looks pretty legit but future attempts as it gets to the finer end towards the end of the challenge will need to be as precise as possible with as much evidence as they can, and make sure it's done in a relatively open space, inside and by removing any variable which could cause confusion or doubt. Great effort Vincent, good job. Look forward to seeing how far this can go!
