Most Points Earned From A Single Scrabble Tile

Gib Mitchell placed a single tile on a Scrabble board and scored 63 points, a new world record. Mitchell placed the letter ‘Z’ on a blue triple-letter box at the intersection of ‘BOO’ and ‘GO’. This resulted in the spelling of ZOO (32 points) and ZO (31 points).
Mitchell set the record in Bedford, New York on June 24, 2009. Stefan Cohen was present as a witness. These words are acceptable in the SOWPODS dictionary.
