Most Handmade Yeast Frogging Plates Prepared In A Single Sitting

Michael Smith prepared 19 frog plates by hand in a single sitting. He performed the feat in the Rose Lab at Princeton University.

Each frog plate is a 96-well plate with strains of yeast at the top, diluted down the lanes. Each frog plate was plated onto at least two plates to confirm growth (-URA and -URA Galactose). Professor Mark Rose was present to witness the achievement.

- each frog plate must be prepared on a 96 well plate 
- the 'frog area' is defined as an 8x6 matrix 
- each frog plate must be plated to at least two growth plates to prove yeast present at highest dilution.  
- the whole process must be done in a single sitting, from inoculation, to serial dilutions, to growth plating, 
- participant need not be present during yeast growth
