how go to http://challengers.guinnessworldrecords.com/challenges/179-fastest-completion-of-level-1-1-super-mario-3d-land-nintendo-3ds/attempts/5206 for the real record.

alot of anger on this post, this is what i would call an "offical" record website.. it is policed obviously by people that can vote it up or down.... i am not sure if people had any dealings with twin galaxies... but my duck hunt record was never considered because a judge for the record held the record.... and as you can obviously see tg last i checked was not even up anymore. scoreboard and all was removed.

Im also going to ask that you please refrain from the language used in posts below..

  • United States Josh Jones

I encourage you who know of faster times, to have the time owners to submit them.

  • United States Josh Jones

Right now, the record stands as is until its broken :) Unless the video you spoke of, is submitted this is what stands, for now.

Of course this time stands on this site. Given the nature of how the site operates, Record Setter doesn't actively research known records elsewhere and relies solely on user generated content. However, that does not make this a World Record when a faster time is not only known, but provided by the game's manufacturer. It only makes this the fastest time someone bothered to submit to this one website. If you can call that a World Record with clear conscious then by all means please do, but I ask that you don't require me to ignore people who make greater efforts than I do simply because they do not use this site.

I have no quams if you acknoweldge better times, what Im stressing is, bring em here to get em verified. Start a friendly rivalry.

    • United States MaturedSinner

How do you start a rivalry with what is essentially a staff ghost? And even so, why should Nintendo have to come to this website anyways? I think they are much more qualified to determine what is verifiable for their game.

    • United States Josh Jones

Im unsure what you mean by Staff Ghost, however when it comes to rivalry, I mean if you know someone who is just as good at this particular title/record, start a back and forth of can you top this.

Have you read none of my explanation of why my time is not a World Record? Because it feels like either you haven't or you just don't grasp the situation fully.

    • United States Josh Jones

I have, but what I cant wrap my head around is if its not, why submit?

    • The Internet Kalum O'sullivan

To prove that it's not the world record by showing how easy it was to beat

    • United States MaturedSinner

I submitted so that my point would be heard better. People tend to understand when something isn't a record easier when they can't hide behind the "Let's see you do better than me" defense. Sites like Record Setter and Twin Galaxies don't take video game speedrun records very seriously, the former even less so than the latter. With the community of VG speedrunners currently collaborating on a new site for leaderboards and records, I included an additional clarification for my time underneath, so that no one might get confused or upset.

Hi William. We do, in fact, actively research records on our site, both at the moderation and editorial level. However, the Internet is a big place, and sometimes things do come up that we miss, especially when, as the original Nintendo video did, these efforts aren't tagged as world records -- they're just people doing extraordinary things.

We will bring this back to the moderation level and are happy to deny submissions that are beaten elsewhere. Oh, and Josh is not a member of RecordSetter staff, so please remember to keep the conversation polite -- he's here just like you. Thanks!

  • United States MaturedSinner

This is not a World Record. This isn't even my fastest time. This is simply the results of an hour of sloppy practice to prove a point. As I mentioned on the previous submission, there is an official video made by Nintendo available at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f2vyPSYRF5A that does this level faster by 5 in-game seconds. I have accomplished nothing worthy of being called a World Record in this video. I encourage people that wish to beat my time to do so for the sake of getting better at the game and not because you want some website to unjustifiably call something you did a World Record despite proof otherwise.

  • The Internet Daniel McCarthy

Im gonna beat that ill get 30 :P watch out

  • United States MaturedSinner

An official video made by Nintendo called "Super Mario 3D Land Super Play Movie: Vol. 1" was featured on the Nintendo Channel, and is currently available to be viewed at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f2vyPSYRF5A ,features a speedrun of this level. This speedrun finished the level in ~30 seconds. So congratulations, you haven't even beaten the time posted by the people who made this game.

    • The Internet Kalum O'sullivan

Most of the times on here aren't the World Records, it's a shame that the actual World Records aren't getting the credit they deserve.

    • The Internet Daniel McCarthy

Well congrats but they didnt put the record on record setter did they so :/

    • The Internet Kalum O'sullivan

Doesn't change the fact that you don't have the World Record

    • United States MaturedSinner

They shouldn't have to submit it to Record Setter. It's their game. Record Setter can only report on what people submit to them, but because of that they are not the "be all end all" when it comes to determining if something is a World Record or not.

Anyways, I believe I've provided sufficient proof that this is not a World Record by any standard, and at best you could call this the "Fastest Time Somebody Bothered To Submit To One Website"

  • The Internet Kalum O'sullivan

This site is garbage, the World Record is like 26 seconds.
