@Neil, there is no way to draw a clear line between the contents of this mug and honey in terms of what is and isn't a liquid. Our decision stands.

  • +1 Neil Moallem

    Neil Moallem

My main argument here is that the contents of the mug are not a liquid. I could have added cement glue (a liquid) to a handful of small pebbles (a solid) but that would not count as a liquid. Honey, however, is in fact a pure liquid

Dan, Benjamin never shows the ground to show that no liquid spilled. For all we know, his so called liquid (which is absolutely NOT A LIQUID)could have spilled everywhere. That is not a liquid by the way

Following the precedent we set by approving honey as a liquid earlier in this category, we are standing by our decision and accepting this attempt.

  • response to this attempt +1 Benjamin Gross

    Benjamin Gross

so by your explanation honey shouldn't be allowed either? After all its nectar(a liquid) mixed with natural yeast(a solid)....GOML

  • response to this attempt +1 Dustin Barker

    Dustin Barker

water is a liquid... so you coulda just used that. But you mixed it with a non-liquid.. so i find that this doesnt work

  • response to this attempt +1 Benjamin Gross

    Benjamin Gross

actually it is a liquid..A liquid can flow, assume the shape of a container..good try its just thick (kinda like honey but even better) stop hating because I doubled your distance.

Hahahaha as soon as we are ready to do the mug slide, an entire volleyball team walked into the hallway. What luck

@Alyjha To add clarity to your question, we've added "Mug used may not be significantly larger or smaller than a standard-sized mug" to the criteria. We want to keep everyone on the same playing field.

    Alyjha Williams

Does it matter on size of coffee mug?

  • +1 Alyjha Williams

    Alyjha Williams

wow i cant type this is what i meant does it matter on size off coffee mug?

  • +1 Alyjha Williams

    Alyjha Williams

Tires does out matter on the size of the mug

  • +1 Rob Birdsong

    Rob Birdsong

Hi Christpohe - we've had to DENY this attempt for the same reason we DENIED Spencer Thomas record. NOTE TO ALL ATTEMPTERS: Please document the liquid being poured in to the mug.

  • +1 Rob Birdsong

    Rob Birdsong

Record goes back to Benjamin. Spencer, you have to properly show the pouring of the liquid in to the mug.

  • +1 Benjamin Gross

    Benjamin Gross

lol i know it was a joke i wasnt planning on it :)

  • +1 Rob Birdsong

    Rob Birdsong

@Benjamin, putting plastic lids or any other cover on the mud is not in line with the spirit of the record and will not be permissible.

Though it's a popular legend, generally, scientists do not agree that glass is a liquid. http://dwb.unl.edu/teacher/nsf/c01/c01links/www.ualberta.ca/~bderksen/florin.html

there is a product on the market called slush powder. It turns liquid into a slush instantly. You put a 1/2 a teaspoon of powder in the cup you could pour the water to the top of the mug

  • +1 Benjamin Gross

    Benjamin Gross

if your going by technicality on things in this video they didnt meet the criteria of - must pour liquid into mug on video.....so glass is an idea i guess :)

  • +1 Neil Moallem

    Neil Moallem

Glass is technically a liquid but it is not a liquid that can be poured or that can spill which excludes it from your available selection of liquids

  • +1 Jordan Brown

    Jordan Brown

"Glass actually IS a liquid...". That's good enough for me.

  • +1 Neil Moallem

    Neil Moallem

I totally agree with Peter. Both putting glass in a mug and covering the mug with something are definitely crossing the line. But basically any viscous liquids put into the mug should be accepted

  • +1 Peter Craig

    Peter Craig

Haha, never tried drinking windows before :) obviously it wouldn't be suitable to do this one with glass, I was intrigued to find out it's not "technically" a solid. I think the honey was a clever side step of the criteria but covering the mug does cross the line canceling out the criteria of spilling

  • +1 Jordan Brown

I'll just put a bunch of glass in a mug then. AND NO ONE CAN STEAL MY IDEA.

  • +1 Neil Moallem

    Neil Moallem

Glass actually IS a liquid but that's besides the point. OBVIOUSLY we can't put something on top of the coffee mug to keep the liquids from spilling out. Aside from that, I don't see what all the fuss is about. We thought of a new method and we crushed everyone else's attempt, simply put

  • +1 Alyjha Williams

    Alyjha Williams

we cant do it its stealing

  • +1 Jordan Brown

    Jordan Brown

I'm aware of this. I've tried drinking my window. Impossibru.

  • +1 Peter Craig

    Peter Craig

@Jordan there's debate and discussion about glass: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glass#Glassversussupercooled_liquid

  • +1 Jordan Brown

    Jordan Brown

    @Peter: glass isn't a liquid.

  • +1 Benjamin Gross

    Benjamin Gross

or put a lid/ plastic qrap over top since it says nothing about that... :)

  • +1 Peter Craig

    Peter Craig

WHAT!! Honey?! now that's a stretch of the criteria to find all the possible loopholes :) Hopefully previous setters can use the new "technique" to their advantage. Technically glass is also considered a liquid so I guess the wording "liquid" as apposed to "water" was avoided. Next we'll be seeing a 2 foot wide mug

I'm on a computer without speakers, so I have no clue what Piccolo said in that. But if I had speakers and understood the content of the video, I would come up with some witty response. Seeing as it is not the case that I have speakers, refer to link. http://www.google.com/imgres?q=cool story bro

That seems more like an accusation than I thought. I'm confident that the purpose of that rule is to establish that what's in the cup is a liquid, not some gel or other less mobile substances that wouldn't spill as easy. However, I demonstrate that the cup is filled with water by shaking it at the beginning of the video, and filming from an angle where you can see that it is 3/4 full. I go through many measures to demonstrate the legitimacy of my records, including slowing this video down to show my release of the cup. Please pay mind to your own records and desist your undermining of the judgement of the moderators of this contest.

Though I have the utmost belief in Brian's integrity and honesty, @Jeff is right. This video doesn't clearly demonstrate the release point. We're going to deny it. Brian and Kenneth, I encourage you both to try again this weekend, and be sure to provide extremely accurate documentation.

  • +1 Rob Birdsong

    Rob Birdsong

Kenneth your 2nt attempt was denied on account of the mug not being 3/4 full. Please make sure to fill and film a fuller mug.

how can anyone actually tell where the mug was released from his hand? His body blocks that view completely
