We think only a record holder can know what you go through to set a record, so we only let people that
have already set world records downvote other people's records.
What can I do?
Go set a record! If you can think of it, you can set a new world record for it.
Not surprisingly, I agree with Dan's take here. Both and he and I used cigarettes which were not purchased in order for the record to be undertaken - they already were available. To underscore our point (and to address Andrew's possible misgivings) why not challenge folks going forward to only use packs that their friends and family donate as a statement that they are quitting smoking and want the smokes gone, broken in half, jigsawed, whatever. What better testimonial to the underlying premise of this record - that smoking is unhealthy and we ought to assist smoking cessation efforts in whatever form they take. As Simon said 5 months ago, "say no to cancer sticks".
Andrew The cigarettes I used were an open pack someone had left at a party. Art used, at least in his first attempt, an old pack he'd kept as an antique. I certainly don't hope people buy cigarettes just to beat this feat.
Simon - thanks for asking. Originally from Chicago, but have lived all over the U.S.. Gotta admit that ending up in KY is deliciously ironic given my background in fighting Big Tobacco. Always have to watch my back here. Been enjoying all your records too - you're an "out there" kind of guy too.
Did I inspire this new record attempt, Dan? LOL - Anyways, it will be very interesting to see how far this record will go, could get exspensive to break?
