Since we've already received submissions using longer rulers than 12 inches, we tweaked criteria to: "Rulers must be between 12 inches and 18 inches in length."

Oh, I know, why I used a 12 inch ruler. Using this 36 inch one it'd be possible to go for 10 minutes or more... Love balancing, biggest goal is to give you a run for your money on the binder one xD Just too lazy to get a .5 inch one.

this should say ruler can not be longer than 12 inches. The thing about balancing is the longer it is the easier it is to do.

What's the maximum length the ruler can be? I'm seeing 18 inch rulers, what about a 36 inch? Or is it considered a stick at the point?
