Wow! As a marathoner and a triathlete, I am incredibly impressed! If you have time, I'd love to interview you via email for my Family blog on Mother Nature Network (www.mnn.com.) Thanks and best of luck with your future record breaking.

Thanks Lauren! Just looking for a few comments on how rare this feat is and what other records Joe is looking to set.

Jenn, I saw your article on MNN that you did. Good job! Thanks for the positive press.

Excellent job, Joe! Not sure how you did it. My legs were completely trashed after that backwards joggling mile I did last year.

    • The Internet Joe Salter

Thanks, Nate! The training was definitely demanding, and had it's "ups" and "downs" (pun intended). :) The race proved to be very demanding, navigation-wise since the roads were very, let's say, broken and non-flat. You really come to know the imperfections of roads once you joggle a marathon backwards on some :)

    Amazing Record!

Did you ever drop any balls during the race? Also, which were more tired the next day: your arms or legs?

    • The Internet Joe Salter

No drops for 5 hours until that darn hole in the road at mile 23 1/2 that we overlooked and I stepped in. I had one more drop in the next couple of miles by a similar darn little road crater that caught my shoe.
I had 2 drops out of 62,460 throws. I'll do a short video of those darn drops in slo-mo :) My legs were more sore, but not until 48 hrs did it really kick in a bit. During the race, it was my upper "trapezious" back muscles burning and in pain the most along with some foot pain, and bad cramps/spasms after mile 20 due to electrolyte imbalance and dehydration. Sounds fun, huh? :)

Should this be called Fastest Backwards Joggling Marathon? Also, I second Corey: extraordinary record!

    • The Internet Joe Salter

Thanks, Dan. Yes, it could be named that just as well. I remember juggler Peter M. making a good point about naming a joggling video, and stating that most laypeople don't know what "joggling" means so just put "juggling." I am fine with either one, I actually prefer joggling. But, for the media/laypeople "juggling" is what is usually used.

    • Canada Dan Rollman

Fair point. Added in the word "while" to add a little more clarity. Congrats again! We're going to blast it out across social media shortly.

Joe, this is AMAZING. Congrats X 1000. Great videography and music to boot!

Thanks, Corey! Love the song and videography as well :)
