Most Neckties Worn At Once

Opus Moreschi

Pushing the limits of both blood circulation and neck strength, Opus Moreschi[] tied a whopping 97 neckties around his neck at once, a new universal record. The ties, which featured everything from cartoon characters to corporate logos, weighed a combined total of 7.4 pounds. Moreschi’s daring feat was performed on February 11, 2009 at a World Record Appreciation Society event at Pianos, a New York City bar. His face turned slightly purple as he set the record, forcing witnesses Corey Henderson and Kate Sullivan to periodically check his pulse. Photo by Nick McGlynn [#WRAS03][] tag:RecordSetterBook01
