World's Largest College Recycling Event

On October 18, 2025, during the Michigan–Washington matchup, the University of Michigan rallied fans, students, and partners to turn game day into a sustainability showdown. Together they collected 47,175.42 pounds of materials for recycling—surpassing the University of Tennessee’s previous mark of 38,452.2 pounds set on November 12, 2022—and set a new world record for the World’s Largest College Recycling Event.

A total of 313 students from Sant Chavara National Academy in Chhindwara, India wore birthday hats made from recycled paper. They set the record to promote recycling.

Fastest Time To Recycle 5 Evian Bottles With Elbows

Natalie Arroyave put five evian bottles in a recycling bin in 23.19 seconds using just her elbows. The record was set during evian's Live Young, Skate On! event in Miami, Florida.

Most Handcrafted Items Made In One Year

Smt. Kamala Prasad Rao made 365 handcrafted items in one year. The items were made out of waste materials such as broken bangles, feather, saw dust, chalk powder, etc. Her other exhibitions include paintings and embroidered products.

Most Pounds Of Paper Fit In A Car And Driven To A Recycling Station

Paul Bryan fit 1600 pounds of recyclable paper in a Ford Fusion and drove it safely to a recycling station.

Bryan set the record as part of Fusion 41, a URDB World Record Challenge created by the Ford Motor Company.

Most Expensive Certified Green Home

Frank McKinney designed and built a certified green mansion valued at $29 million dollars (U.S.). The house has a Silver LEED rating from the U.S Green Building Council, a Certified Florida Green Home rating from the Florida Green Building Coalition, and meets the Energy Star for Homes criteria established by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency[].

The house includes an innovative use of solar, water, and materials. Super energy efficient appliances cut down on electrical consumption by nearly 60%.

On certain days the home will be energy neutral, and can generate enough electricity to run two average-sized homes. The house used enough reclaimed and renewable wood to save over 10.5 acres of rain forest.

A system that collects runoff water from the cedar roof fills the water garden. The system collects enough reusable water to fill the average size swimming pool every 17 days.

McKinney donated money from the sale of the house to the Crush It Charity[], which builds houses and self-sufficient villages in Haiti.
